Room of the Week: Gene Guindon, Moe’s Home Collection

Category: Living–Dining Room
Home Stylist: Gene Guindon from Moe’s Home Collection
Location: Vancouver

Goal: To create a casual, beach-inspired living–dining area that is easy to maintain, yet has touches of luxe and layers of texture.

Inspiration: “I found inspiration for the color palette in the sandy beaches of Vancouver,” home stylist Gene Guindon says. “The splashes of aqua tones on the sideboard and sofa are reminiscent of the Pacific Ocean, and I incorporated driftwood tones with wood furniture and accents. I rounded out the look with a frothy surf mixture of soft whites and grays.”

Breakdown: All furniture and accessories were chosen from Moe's Home Collection, including the eye-catching white lacquer Avery Dining Table on a brushed stainless steel pedestal base, the gray leather Fenzi sofa, and the Horizontal Stripes painting that gives a subtle nod to the striated fireplace in the sitting area.

Get the Look: “This look is really quite easy to set up and maintain,” Guindon says. “I always recommend choosing big purchases such as sofas and dining tables in soft whites and light grays. The mild tones play off of each other well and help achieve a balanced, laid-back look. Pull the look together with interesting accents and pops of color, like I did with the aqua accessories and wood statuary.”
